THE VILLA AS PART OF AN URBAN RETREAT
Frankfurt is movement, ideas, capital, culture. A city of pace and depth, forward‑looking yet conscious of its history. In Frankfurt’s district Sachsenhausen, between greenery and urban density, stands Villa Speyer. A house that has endured. A place that has absorbed time and now offers orientation. Clearly rooted in the city, deliberately positioned. A retreat with connection, calm with proximity.
In December 2025, The Florentin by Althoff Collection opened across the newly built structure and the carefully refined historic villa. While the Garden Courtyard of the hotel forms the vibrant heart, the villa serves as its cultural and architectural anchor. The design studio atelier zürich has thoughtfully and respectfully developed the villa’s salons, suites and spaces — alongside the Cigar Lounge and the dune.
Wallpaper patterns have been reinterpreted in the Ladies’ Room, historic furniture revived through carefully selected fabrics and colours. Historical elements remain visible, new interventions are precisely placed. Past and present enter into a dialogue. The villa once again assumes its role as host — whether exclusively reserved or individually experienced.
Those who reserve the villa exclusively inhabit a private residence within the hotel. All Signature Suites, the Royal Suite, the salons, a private kitchen, and the winter garden are at full disposal. Dining may take place within the hotel or in the privacy of the villa — the experience follows an individual rhythm.
At the same time, the Signature Suites, the Royal Suite, and salons can be reserved individually. Guests of The Villa or the Loft Suites in the hotel alike benefit from access to the spaces and amenities of Villa Speyer. A conversation in the Ladies’ Room, a shared meal at the large kitchen table, or a game of chess in the winter garden become as natural to the stay as dining in the restaurant or a quiet moment by the pool.
The Villa combines the generosity of a private residence with the discretion and service of a luxury hotel. Independent, yet connected — a place where history and present coexist as naturally as individuality and clarity, design and respect for heritage.
History
The villa was designed in 1901 by Alfred Günther for Eduard Beit von Speyer — banker, philanthropist, and patron of art, music, and science. The Speyer family shaped Frankfurt quietly and enduringly. The villa served as a meeting place, a space for thought, a host in itself. Conversations took place here, ideas took form. This understanding continues to resonate today.
The Villa has witnessed change and carried responsibility. Its function evolved, its significance remained.
